I regret to report that due to an extremely full calendar these past two weeks,I will not be handing in assignment #1 on time.  My car recently broke down, I've been trying to maintain my tan, and I had to prepare for an outrageous Formula 1 party (to which you are invited, of course!).  

I am sure that you appreciate the pressure I have been under, and since you have nothing to do but sit in your office anyway, I feel certain that you will accept my assignment whenever I get around to handing it in.

If there is any problem, please leave a message on my answering machine.
